South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix has officially become the country's most valuable corporate entity by market capitalization, displacing tech giant Samsung Electronics. According to financial market data, this structural shift marks the first time in 25 years that Samsung has lost its top position in the domestic market. Driven by a surge in share prices, SK Hynix’s total market value climbed to 208.04 trillion won (approximately 135 billion dollars), while Samsung Electronics' capitalization fell slightly to 206.67 trillion won.

SK Hynix's extraordinary growth corporate trajectory—coming two decades after the company faced near-bankruptcy due to severe debt issues—is largely propelled by the skyrocketing global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. The enterprise has successfully secured premier manufacturing contracts to supply high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to industry heavyweights like Nvidia and Google. Industry analysts note that SK Hynix currently commands a dominant 61 percent share of the global HBM market, which produces the essential microchip hardware required to operate sophisticated artificial intelligence systems and large language models.
