SINOPEC Subsidiary Records Substantial Hydrocarbon Extraction Volumes in Turkmenistan
30 Jun. 08:37A major energy partnership in Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector has reached a significant financial and operational milestone. Over a four-year period of continuous operations, the local branch of China’s petrochemical giant, SINOPEC, has successfully extracted more than one million tons of crude oil from domestic fields. According to current market evaluations, the total economic value of the extracted natural resources is estimated at approximately 200 million USD.
The project is managed by the International Petroleum Service Corporation, a subsidiary of the China Petrochemical Corporation, under a long-term contractual agreement with the "Turkmennebit" State Concern. Within this strategic framework, the foreign service contractor delivers an extensive portfolio of specialized engineering and oilfield services. This ongoing technical collaboration is structurally focused on optimizing production across the country's onshore oil reserves.
The deployment of advanced extraction technologies and modern field infrastructure has led to a measurable increase in standard output rates. By implementing innovative reservoir stimulation methods, the technical teams successfully enhanced the daily crude oil production capacity by more than 1.5 thousand tons. This optimization has ensured sustained output growth and improved the extraction efficiency of the targeted wells.
The corporation has been heavily involved in operational upgrades across several major fields, including Shatlyk, Dovletabad, Yashyldepe, and Bagtyyarlyk. In these development zones, SINOPEC completed various technical projects involving the drilling of new wells, comprehensive workovers of existing wells, and the enhancement of natural gas and oil recovery. Looking ahead, the enterprise plans to continue introducing advanced technical systems to optimize mature fields and implement new infrastructural projects across Turkmenistan.

Detroit High School Students Eligible for Up to $1,000 for Perfect Attendance
23 Aug. 18:09High school students in Detroit, Michigan, who maintain consistent school attendance can earn up to $1,000 in electronic gift cards. According to Fox News, high schoolers receive a $100 digital gift card for every week of uninterrupted class attendance. Students can earn $400 across four weeks, with total incentives reaching up to $1,000 during the 10-week winter period.
The attendance incentive model demonstrated strong results between January and March 2026, when approximately 12,800 high school students—representing 84% of the district's high school population—qualified for the payments. Concurrently, chronic absenteeism dropped from 64% to 54%. Following this success, the program has been extended through the 2026–2027 academic year and expanded to include students in grades 6–8, who will receive $50 for each week of full attendance.
The school district allocated $13.9 million from its overall budget to combat unexcused absences. The program maintains strict criteria: a single unexcused absence during any given school week forfeits the student's eligibility for that week's reward.
