Official state institutions are finalizing organizational procedures for the upcoming large-scale Cultural Week, scheduled to take place in the western region of Turkmenistan from June 22 to June 27. This comprehensive series of events coincides with the professional holiday of culture and art workers, as well as Magtymguly Pyragy Poetry Day.
The "Türkmeniň ak öýi" building in the city of Balkanabat will serve as the primary venue for the key events, hosting both the official opening and closing ceremonies of the forum. According to the approved agenda, this location will also host scientific conferences, thematic exhibitions, interactive creative meetings, literary evenings, and major concert performances.
The cultural schedule further features public screenings of feature films, theatrical plays, and the announcement of results for previously launched creative contests among artists. A major highlight of the artistic itinerary is the performance of the opera "Leyli and Mejnun," which will be staged by the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre.
This large-scale project is implemented within the framework of the national strategy aimed at modernizing the cultural sector, preserving the historical heritage of the nation, and promoting it globally. The event is designed to demonstrate the current achievements and creative potential of the country's regions.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
