Samsung Casts "Tim Cook" in Clever New Galaxy Z Fold8 Advertisement

Samsung's latest ad campaign for the Galaxy Z Fold8 features a man named Tim Cook — however, he is a real estate agent from New Zealand, not the former Apple CEO. The "Welcome to Foldables" campaign humorously capitalizes on Apple's recent entry into the foldable smartphone market.

The playful ad directly contrasts with Apple's September 9 launch of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable device. While both phones feature a 7.6-inch inner screen, Samsung highlights its extensive market experience dating back to 2019. The company also emphasizes that the 201-gram Galaxy Z Fold8 is 53 grams lighter than Apple's new device.

The real Tim Cook officially stepped down as Apple CEO on September 1, with John Ternus taking over leadership. Meanwhile, Samsung continues its tradition of poking fun at its rival, driving home the joke that even "Tim Cook" has switched to a Fold.

On-the-Go Power: Japanese Engineers Develop Wireless In-Road Charging for Electric Vehicles

In a major leap for electric mobility, Honda R&D, alongside Taisei Corporation and Taisei Rotec, has unveiled an innovative dynamic wireless charging system that charges electric vehicles as they drive. By embedding compact energy-transmitting modules directly into the road surface, the system transfers power via a magnetic field to receivers mounted underneath moving vehicles. Designed to withstand heavy commercial transport up to 20 tons, real-world road testing is scheduled to begin in Japan in April 2027.

The technology eliminates the need for full road reconstruction, as modules can be integrated directly into milled asphalt layers. Aimed at boosting charging power up to 150 kW in future iterations, this infrastructure solution promise to significantly reduce grid pressure on traditional charging stations, particularly for logistics and commercial fleets.
