The upcoming release of "Grand Theft Auto VI" is expected to trigger a wave of employee leave requests across the United States. According to The Wall Street Journal, a significant number of workers are planning their vacation days specifically around the game's launch, presenting potential operational challenges for employers. Similar labor slowdowns have previously occurred in Japan following the release of major video game titles.
Anticipating widespread absenteeism, several American companies are proactively offering paid leave in late November as part of employee incentive programs. The anticipation spans various sectors, including the military, where Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko reported that 44 out of 130 service members in her unit have already requested time off for the game's debut.
Scheduled for release on November 19, "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Many fans are reportedly preparing weeks in advance by finishing household chores and stocking up on supplies to focus entirely on gaming upon launch.
