On March 29, Turkmenistan will hold a new round of regional elections involving both the national parliament and local representative bodies. The Mejlis of Turkmenistan has formally approved the organization of elections to fill vacant seats and establish representation in newly created administrative districts.

As part of the electoral process in Turkmenistan, members of the halk maslahaty will be elected in recently formed etraps across several velayats. In addition, voters will select new deputies to replace those who left the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and local councils ahead of schedule. The elections will take place in districts of the Ahal, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary velayats of Turkmenistan.

Supplementary parliamentary elections are also planned in Turkmenistan for constituencies “Amyderýa” and “Darganata” in the Lebap velayat, as well as two constituencies in the Mary velayat, due to early termination of mandates.

The resolution was adopted in full compliance with the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan and was officially signed by the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on January 7.
