Media as a Tool for Constructive Development: Turkmenistan’s View

Source

Turkmenistan has emphasized the importance of using mass media in a responsible and constructive manner. Media platforms, it was noted, should serve creative and developmental purposes, while effective barriers must be established against cybercrime and the spread of biased or harmful information in the digital space. This statement was made by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during the International Forum of Peace and Trust held in Ashgabat.

He stressed that information exchange plays a significant role in building respectful and productive relations between states. According to him, such dialogue is regarded as a fundamental element of the peace and trust initiative, as well as a continuation of the global concept earlier proposed by Turkmenistan, which promotes dialogue as a key guarantee of lasting peace.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that cooperation within this framework should be continuous and systematic, aimed at long-term development. He added that international dialogue must extend across a broad range of areas.

In this context, particular importance was attached to applying the principles of peace and trust to the resolution of global challenges, including environmental protection, access to clean water and air, modern healthcare, inclusive education, food security, and other pressing social issues.

Concluding his remarks, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty proposed developing a new forward-looking roadmap for cooperation under the banner of peace and trust together with interested countries and international organizations, expressing readiness for in-depth discussions on both substantive and organizational aspects of the initiative.
