Source

Today, an educational eco-festival titled “Protecting Nature – Building the Future” took place at School No. 140, with active involvement from the faculty and students of the Biotechnology and Ecology Department at Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University.

The main goal of the event was to foster early environmental awareness and teach children the importance of responsible use of natural resources. Fourth-grade students took part in a series of informative and engaging activities designed to build ecological knowledge and practical understanding.

A major focus of the event was introducing the students to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). University specialists highlighted the links between global environmental challenges and daily life, emphasizing key topics such as biodiversity conservation, water management, and climate adaptation.

Interactive sessions helped reinforce the learning. Children participated in activities such as solving eco-themed crosswords, constructing food chains, and identifying the characteristics of different biomes. A friendly quiz tested their ecological awareness, and the most active participants were rewarded with certificates and educational gifts.

The university also shared educational models and visual aids designed by its students. These teaching tools were specifically created to help explain complex environmental systems in a simple and engaging way.

The festival is a strong example of effective collaboration between higher education and schools, aimed at raising environmental literacy and social responsibility among Turkmenistan’s younger generation.
