President of Turkmenistan Holds Meetings with Members of Japan’s Parliament

During a working visit to Tokyo to attend the inaugural “Central Asia – Japan” dialogue summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held meetings with the Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, Fukushiro Nukaga, and Toshiyaki Endo, head of the Japanese side of the Turkmenistan–Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on parliamentary relations.

According to the newspaper “Turkmenistan,” the talks highlighted the close interaction between the two countries within major international organizations, especially the United Nations. Turkmenistan and Japan coordinate their approaches on global issues and support each other’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace and sustainable development. The dynamic growth of multilateral cooperation within the “Central Asia – Japan” framework was also underscored.

Trade and economic partnership was identified as a cornerstone of Turkmen–Japanese relations, characterized by stability and long-term engagement. Over the years, Turkmenistan and leading Japanese corporations have built extensive experience of cooperation in sectors such as the gas industry and chemical production. The importance of intensifying cultural and humanitarian exchanges was likewise noted.

The meetings emphasized the relevance of the initiative proposed by the National Leader of the Turkmen people to organize the first gathering of parliamentary leaders of Central Asian states and Japan. Proposals were also voiced to strengthen the work of the parliamentary friendship group and to launch a mechanism for cooperation between women parliamentarians of both countries.

President of Turkmenistan Visits the State Hermitage Museum

During his official visit to the Russian Federation, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a visit to the State Hermitage Museum, one of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions. The visit was confirmed by official representatives of the host country.

The President of Turkmenistan was accompanied by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Together, they explored the museum’s vast collections and historical exhibits.

Following the tour, an informal meeting of CIS heads of state was held in the St. George Hall of the Hermitage. Turkmenistan’s participation highlighted the country’s commitment to cultural diplomacy and regional cooperation.
