President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the 15th-century mausoleum of the Turkmen Kara Koyunlu dynasty, located in the village of Argavand in Armenia’s Ararat Province, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Yerevan.
The event was also attended by Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, members of the Presidential Administration, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov, and other embassy staff.
The Armenian leader was briefed on the historical and cultural value of the mausoleum, as well as the restoration efforts and architectural features of the site.
Ambassador Ayazov noted that cultural and humanitarian cooperation remains a key area in the bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Armenia.
Earlier in August, during a working visit to Turkmenistan, President Khachaturyan also visited the Armenian church in Turkmenbashi. Although the church was damaged during the Soviet era, in recent years, Turkmen authorities have taken steps to preserve the site and improve the surrounding area, expressing readiness for its full restoration.
