The presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will officially transfer to the Kyrgyz Republic in 2027. This was announced by Yuri Ushakov, the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, as reported by the TASS news agency.

According to Ushakov, Kyrgyzstan will formally take over the leadership of the union starting January 1, 2027. The statement was released ahead of the Russian leader's upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan to attend the high-level events of the organization.

In accordance with the regulatory frameworks of the EAEU, the chairmanship of the union’s governing bodies—including the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Intergovernmental Council—rotates annually among the member states in alphabetical order. The transition of the leadership to Bishkek will mark the next structural phase in managing regional economic integration.
