The 79th session of the World Health Assembly officially opened in Geneva, functioning as the premier international governance platform for defining global medical standards and public health trajectories. A senior delegation from Turkmenistan, led by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, joined regional and global administrative leaders to actively participate in the multilateral forum.

On the sidelines of the assembly, the national delegation conducted a bilateral working meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The interinstitutional dialogue focused on evaluating ongoing collaborative projects and identifying new mechanisms for strengthening cross-border medical cooperative systems.

The core agenda centered on advancing public health metrics, clinical innovation, and structural upgrades within pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. To solidify mutual engagement, the Turkmen delegation formally extended an invitation to the WHO executive to visit the capital in October of this year to attend major regional high-level health forums.

Concurrently, the national delegates are engaged in the comprehensive operational schedule of the assembly’s plenary configurations. The global gathering incorporates representatives from numerous sovereign states to address systemic challenges such as global health equity, emergency preparedness, and the long-term sustainability of international healthcare infrastructures.
