The leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including diplomatic coordination, economic synergy, and the strengthening of cultural and educational ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, the Hero-Arkadag emphasized that a stable and reliable system of interstate relations has been established, which has stood the test of time and proven its effectiveness for both nations. Turkmenistan and China continue to coordinate their efforts within the UN, the "Central Asia–China" format, and other international organizations to promote global peace and sustainable development. This cooperation reflects the deep alignment of long-term national interests and a shared vision for a balanced international order.
The energy sector remained a top priority on the bilateral agenda, with both leaders stressing the strategic importance of developing the massive "Galkynysh" gas field. Joint projects in this field serve as the cornerstone of the energy partnership between Ashgabat and Beijing, ensuring a steady supply of natural gas to the Chinese market. In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the leaders agreed to further deepen cooperation in science, education, and the arts. The expansion of inter-parliamentary dialogue and party-to-party relations in recent years was also recognized as a vital component of the bilateral relationship. Both Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Xi Jinping expressed their firm belief that the continued strengthening of these multifaceted ties would lead to greater prosperity for the people of Turkmenistan and China and contribute to regional stability.

Detroit High School Students Eligible for Up to $1,000 for Perfect Attendance
23 Aug. 18:09High school students in Detroit, Michigan, who maintain consistent school attendance can earn up to $1,000 in electronic gift cards. According to Fox News, high schoolers receive a $100 digital gift card for every week of uninterrupted class attendance. Students can earn $400 across four weeks, with total incentives reaching up to $1,000 during the 10-week winter period.
The attendance incentive model demonstrated strong results between January and March 2026, when approximately 12,800 high school students—representing 84% of the district's high school population—qualified for the payments. Concurrently, chronic absenteeism dropped from 64% to 54%. Following this success, the program has been extended through the 2026–2027 academic year and expanded to include students in grades 6–8, who will receive $50 for each week of full attendance.
The school district allocated $13.9 million from its overall budget to combat unexcused absences. The program maintains strict criteria: a single unexcused absence during any given school week forfeits the student's eligibility for that week's reward.
