The meetings of the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan in 2026 are expected to significantly enhance cooperation among member countries. This statement was made by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mähri Bäşimowa during a ceremonial reception at the Embassy of the Russian Federation dedicated to Russia’s Diplomatic Worker’s Day.

She noted that Turkmenistan is chairing the CIS this year and, in this capacity, plans to host a number of major events involving participating states. According to her, the upcoming high-level and governmental meetings in the country will make a substantial contribution to strengthening collaboration within the Commonwealth framework.

The deputy minister also highlighted the strong atmosphere of mutual trust that characterizes relations between Turkmenistan and Russia. She stressed that this foundation enables the two nations to consistently deepen cooperation both bilaterally and within leading international organizations.

She further emphasized that the constructive personal dialogue between the leaders of the two states serves as a cornerstone of successful partnership. Regular top-level engagements, she added, stimulate progress across a broad range of joint initiatives.

In addition, she expressed gratitude to the staff of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat for their dedicated and effective service.
