Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and China Discuss Preparations for the "Central Asia – China" Summit
19 Mar. 07:46On March 18, a high-level meeting was held in Beijing between Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Wang Yi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. The talks took place during the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to China. The ministers engaged in a comprehensive dialogue aimed at further strengthening the multifaceted strategic partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, which was held in a professional and constructive atmosphere, the diplomats expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of bilateral relations. They emphasized that the personal trust and wise policies of the top leadership have successfully elevated Turkmen-Chinese cooperation to a qualitatively new level. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi specifically highlighted that the National Leader of the Turkmen people is a long-standing and loyal friend of the Chinese nation, which remains a vital factor in their enduring diplomatic bond.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan congratulated his Chinese counterpart on the successful conclusion of the "two sessions" — China's major annual political meetings. Minister Meredov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to supporting China's four global initiatives focused on international security and sustainable growth. This alignment reflects the shared goals of both countries in addressing contemporary global challenges through peaceful diplomacy and mutual development.
A key point of the discussion was the detailed preparation for the upcoming third "Central Asia – China" summit. Both parties recognized this platform as a crucial mechanism for deepening regional multilateral dialogue and enhancing connectivity. The ministers agreed that the summit would provide a significant opportunity to advance cooperation in energy, logistics, and trade, and they pledged to maintain close coordination to ensure the event's strategic success and long-term impact on the region.

A bilateral meeting between representatives of Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China focused on agricultural development was held at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat. The negotiations took place within the framework of a visit by a Chinese delegation led by Erkin Tuniyaz, Chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The event brought together heads of the agro-industrial sector, scientists from research academies, and representatives of leading companies from both nations. Discussions centered on integrating digital technologies into agriculture, as well as advancing seed production and selective breeding. Special emphasis was placed on cotton growing, raw material processing, and water conservation technologies.
The Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in implementing joint investment projects and supplying modern agricultural machinery to Turkmenistan. Additionally, both parties agreed to establish regular exchange visits for agricultural experts to facilitate professional knowledge sharing.
Following the sectoral talks, the Chinese delegation met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan T. Atahallyev. The meeting summarized the results of the consultations and reaffirmed both nations' commitment to elevating regional agricultural and technical partnership to a higher level.
