Extended periods of extreme heat and drought have triggered severe crop yield reductions across Western Europe. According to The Guardian, agricultural producers in France, Italy, and Spain have reported substantial losses in grain, vegetable, and livestock production.

In France, the European Union's largest grain producer, the corn harvest is projected to fall by 35% to 9 million tons—marking its lowest level since 1980. Vegetable yields also saw steep declines, with broccoli down by 60%, artichokes by 50–100%, peas by 40%, lettuce by 35%, and zucchini by 25%. Winter fodder straw production dropped nearly 30% below the 1989–2018 historic average.

In Italy, persistent drought conditions affected approximately 60% of agricultural land, resulting in a 20% decline in dairy output. Spain's Castile and León region recorded a 35% decrease in grain yield, while Madrid and Andalusia saw drops of 49% and 24%, respectively. Sheep and goat milk production diminished by 6.5% and 10.8%, with overall wine production expected to contract by 20% in 2026.

European governments have initiated emergency relief frameworks to assist the agricultural sector. French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced an immediate allocation of €145 million in emergency assistance, alongside structural support investments scheduled for the 2027 budget.
