Elon Musk’s Three Companies May Explore Merger Possibilities
31 Jan. 13:40According to Reuters, SpaceX is reportedly considering a potential merger with Elon Musk’s other companies, such as xAI or Tesla. Discussions are taking place as preparations are made for the initial public offering (IPO) of shares this year.
The rocket manufacturer is evaluating a merger with xAI. Sources familiar with the matter and regulatory filings suggest that, if finalized, SpaceX rockets, the Starlink satellite network, the X social platform, and the Grok chatbot could be combined under a single entity. Deal terms, pricing, and timing have not been disclosed.
Additionally, SpaceX is exploring a possible merger with Musk-owned electric vehicle company Tesla. Jin Münster, managing partner of Deepwater Asset Management and a Tesla shareholder, commented: “I believe xAI will likely end up in the hands of one of these two companies.”
According to Polymarket analysis, the probability of a SpaceX-xAI merger by mid-year is 48%, while a Tesla-xAI merger stands at 16%. No official statements have been made by Musk, SpaceX, xAI, or Tesla. Tesla shares rose 3% in over-the-counter trading.
