The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) launched a high-level conference titled "Export Experience Exchange" on April 7 at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. This strategic gathering serves as a collaborative platform for Turkmen entrepreneurs, foreign trade specialists, and seasoned exporters. The event is specifically designed to bridge the gap between local production capabilities and global market demands, fostering a more robust non-resource export sector for the nation.
The conference has drawn participation from prominent local brands, including "Nesil Coffee," "Erte," and "Mahmal," alongside numerous small and medium-sized enterprises seeking international expansion. During the initial sessions, EBRD representatives detailed the bank’s specialized financial instruments and trade promotion programs currently available to businesses in Turkmenistan. A key highlight of the morning agenda was a practical session where successful exporters shared firsthand insights into the logistical and regulatory challenges of entering foreign jurisdictions.
In the afternoon, the program transitions into intensive masterclasses focused on the technicalities of modern international trade. Key topics include the strategic role of export marketing, the utilization of global e-commerce platforms, and the automation of internal business workflows to handle cross-border transactions. Furthermore, participants are receiving expert guidance on international certification standards, which is a prerequisite for ensuring that Turkmen products meet the rigorous quality benchmarks of European and Asian markets.
The diverse roster of speakers includes experts from the EBRD, the "MST" agency, and specialized firms such as "Eksport Hyzmat" and "SGS Turkmen Ltd.," as well as leadership from the "Ak Sahypa" economic society. This multidisciplinary approach provides attendees with a 360-degree view of the export landscape, from legal compliance to digital promotion. The forum underscores the commitment of international financial institutions and the local private sector to diversify Turkmenistan’s economic footprint globally.
