The agricultural sector of the Daşoguz province has officially launched the annual silk cocoon production season with a highly organized strategic approach. As part of the preliminary phase, 67 specialized silkworm breeding centers across the region’s districts were fully prepared to facilitate the initial stages of production. To maximize operational capacity, a total of 13,691 boxes of silkworm seeds have been distributed among these centers to initiate the cultivation process.

For the current year, the provincial administration has set a production target of 500 tons of high-quality silk cocoons. To achieve this objective, formal contracts have been established with over 8,700 experienced silk producers and tenant farmers. The steady increase in the number of seasoned specialists in the field underscores the region’s growing expertise and commitment to advancing the traditional silk industry through modern agricultural practices.

A critical component of successful silkworm rearing is the availability of a stable food supply, primarily consisting of mulberry leaves. In response, the province is actively implementing initiatives to expand mulberry plantations and increase the overall number of mulberry trees. Proper maintenance of existing groves and the large-scale planting of new seedlings are being prioritized to ensure a consistent and high-quality nutritional base for the silkworms throughout the season.

The silk production season is of vital importance to the national textile industry, providing the essential raw material for high-grade silk fabrics. By leveraging state support and local expertise, producers in Daşoguz aim to meet and exceed their production quotas while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
