Silk producers in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan are aiming to deliver 25 tons of high-quality cocoons to the state this year. This production target is part of a broader national effort to strengthen the raw material base for the country's textile industry. Regional authorities have finalized all necessary arrangements to support local silkworm breeders throughout the current developmental cycle.

To achieve this goal, 685 boxes of silkworm eggs, specifically selected for their compatibility with local environmental conditions, have been distributed to breeders. Experts highlight the successful utilization of silkworm varieties imported from the People's Republic of China. These particular strains are valued for their resilience to diseases and superior productivity, which significantly enhances the overall quality of the silk thread produced.

The Magtymguly district is expected to contribute the largest portion of the harvest, with a target of 18 tons. Additionally, the Gyzylarbat and Bereket districts aim to produce 6 tons and 1 ton, respectively. Contractual agreements with individual breeders ensure that the complex biological process of silkworm rearing is conducted under professional supervision and in accordance with established standards.

Currently, the rearing process is in its active phase, requiring precise temperature control and consistent feeding schedules. The integration of modern sericulture techniques and international best practices in the Balkan region underscores the importance of this traditional sector to the national economy. The final harvest will be processed into high-grade silk textiles for both domestic consumption and international markets.
