A specialized training session was recently held in Ashgabat to facilitate the integration of Turkmenistan’s small and medium-sized textile enterprises into the European Union market. Organized by the International Trade Center and funded by the EU-led project "Turkmenistan: Trade Sustainability and Integration," the event focused on enhancing export readiness and aligning local production with international quality and sustainability benchmarks.

The workshop brought together 29 representatives from the private garment and textile sectors. A primary focus was placed on the "European Green Deal" and its implications for sustainable manufacturing. Participants were briefed on the rigorous certification requirements and eco-friendly standards that European buyers prioritize. Understanding these environmental mandates is essential for any brand aiming to compete in the high-value Western retail landscape.

During the practical modules, entrepreneurs worked on developing product strategies for the "Spring-Summer 2027" season. The curriculum included advanced techniques in visual merchandising, assortment planning, and brand storytelling tailored for international audiences. Experts emphasized the importance of adapting local craftsmanship and designs to meet the aesthetic tastes of European consumers while maintaining a unique brand identity.

Furthermore, the session provided a roadmap for successfully participating in global trade fairs, such as Paris’s "Who’s Next." Attendees received targeted advice on how to build direct relationships with international distributors and effectively position their brands on the world stage. This initiative is a cornerstone of Turkmenistan’s strategy to bolster the competitiveness of its private sector and diversify its national export portfolio.
