The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest hosted the grand opening of a cultural exhibition titled "Turkmenistan: 35 Years of Independence — A Celebration of Heritage and Culture." Organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, the launch of this significant cultural diplomacy event was officially reported on the web portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

As highlighted in the official statement, the exhibition was conceptualized to honor the upcoming 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's State Independence, as well as to celebrate the country's national motto for 2026: "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — The Cradle of Winged Steeds with a Determined Destiny." The initiative is geared toward showcasing the country's historical roots and national identity to European audiences.

The opening ceremony, which took place on June 9, 2026, was attended by heads and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, senior representatives of Romanian state agencies, prominent figures from scientific, academic, and cultural sectors, members of the business community, Turkmen students studying in Romania, and local journalists.

The museum halls features a diverse collection of traditional Turkmen applied arts, world-renowned handmade carpets, authentic national costumes, ornate silver jewelry, documentary photographs, and various publications highlighting the economic, social, and cultural milestones achieved by sovereign Turkmenistan.

Speakers at the inaugural ceremony emphasized the proactive role of Turkmenistan in preserving world cultural heritage and promoting international humanitarian cooperation. It was noted that such strategic bilateral cultural exchanges serve as an effective mechanism for deepening mutual understanding, fostering transnational friendships, and strengthening cross-cultural dialogue between the nations.
