Leading epidemiologists and medical researchers have outlined the primary diseases expected to cause the highest mortality rates over the coming five years. According to recent forecasts, cardiovascular diseases, oncology, and endocrine disorders will remain the leading causes of death worldwide. In addition to these chronic conditions, infectious diseases, particularly influenza, continue to pose a significant threat to global public health due to their widespread prevalence and evolving nature.

Medical professionals note that influenza viruses are constantly mutating, allowing them to maintain a dominant position among infectious threats. One of the most dangerous aspects of the flu is its potential to trigger severe cardiovascular complications, which can be fatal for vulnerable populations. Although international lockdowns and restrictions temporarily reduced flu transmission during the COVID-19 pandemic, the virus remains a persistent and unpredictable challenge for modern medicine.

The emergence of newer infectious threats is also a point of concern for health authorities. For instance, mpox (monkeypox) has now firmly established itself within the human population, transitioning from a sporadic zoonotic disease to a more consistent public health issue. Furthermore, experts highlight that historical threats like cholera have not been fully eradicated; some pandemic cycles that began decades ago continue to affect various parts of the world today.

Research indicates that the hierarchy of high-risk diseases has remained largely unchanged over the past two decades. To mitigate these risks, experts recommend that healthcare systems prioritize the management of non-communicable diseases while enhancing surveillance for viral mutations. Strengthening preventive measures and global medical cooperation will be essential in addressing these ongoing and emerging health challenges in the near future.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
