On August 10, an environmental initiative commemorating Caspian Sea Day took place in the Awaza National Tourist Zone. The event was organized under the regional UNDP and UNEP joint project "Combating Marine Litter and Plastics – A Systemic Approach in the Caspian," supported financially by the Russian Federation.

The initiative was supported by Turkmenistan's Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and the "Ýaş tebigatçy" (Young Naturalist) public organization. Children resting at the "Arzuw" and "Daýanç" health centers participated in the activities aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting nature stewardship.

Participants learned about the Caspian Sea's biodiversity and the environmental hazards posed by plastic pollution and microplastics. Experts also conducted safety briefings covering water safety, fire protocols, and basic first aid.

The interactive program featured a "Protectors of the Caspian" educational quest, an eco-art workshop, and a demonstration of coastal monitoring equipment used to track marine debris. UNDP expert Jemal Durdykova highlighted that the initiative aims to boost youth awareness and support long-term conservation efforts for the Caspian ecosystem.
