In accordance with the 2026 work plan of the State Commission for Emergency Situations of Turkmenistan, comprehensive training exercises were conducted in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. Organized with the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan acting as the lead executive body, the three-stage drill focused on preventing and responding to industrial accidents at offshore oil and gas platforms and other maritime facilities.

According to the operational scenario, a simulated oil spill occurred at the Zhdanov-A platform within the Jygalybeg oil and gas field near the city of Turkmenbashi. The scenario required immediate inter-agency coordination to contain the simulated environmental hazard in the maritime zone.

To mitigate potential risks and eliminate the consequences of the incident, the leadership of the Civil Defense convened at the Management Center of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. During the emergency briefing, operational responsibilities were assigned, and strategic measures were adopted to contain the spill.

Following the completion of the multi-stage training exercise, the Head of Civil Defense evaluated the operational readiness and decision-making capabilities of the response units as "Ready" for handling potential natural and man-made emergencies in the Caspian Sea.
