Astana Selected to Host the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships for the First Time
22 Jun. 18:09According to the International Skating Union, the capital of Kazakhstan has secured the hosting rights for the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, scheduled to take place from February 9 to 14, 2027. The elite international competition will feature top figure skaters from Asia, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania, making it the largest winter sports event of its kind in the country’s history. The leadership of the international federation emphasized that bringing the championships to Astana will significantly advance the development of figure skating across Central Asia. Kazakhstan’s prior experience in managing major continental multi-sport events, along with recent global podium finishes by its athletes, heavily factored into the selection process. The annual Four Continents Championships ranks as the second most prestigious global tournament after the World Championships for non-European competitors.

Under the new framework, users aged 15 to 18 will undergo mandatory age verification through the "e-Devlet" portal. Accounts for this age group will feature default private settings, with explicit bans on live streaming, targeted behavioral ads, and profile recommendation algorithms.
Social media networks are also required to provide parents and legal guardians with control tools to monitor usage time, location tracking, and financial transactions. Existing active accounts must complete the age verification process by March 31, 2027.
