A new China-Central Asia Publishing Center has been officially inaugurated at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty. According to a report by the "Xinhua" news agency, this facility marks China's first publishing establishment to operate directly within the Central Asian region. The center’s opening is seen as a pivotal development in fostering academic and literary ties between China and its regional partners.

The center was co-founded by the "Xi'an Jiaotong University Press" and Al-Farabi KazNU to facilitate a wide range of scholarly activities. Its primary functions will include the publication of educational textbooks and the collaborative translation of classical literary works from both China and Central Asian nations. Additionally, the partners aim to develop a joint digital publishing platform and cooperate extensively in the fields of copyright management and professional publishing services.

During the opening ceremony, Su Fangqiu, China's Consul General in Almaty, expressed confidence that the new center would significantly boost cultural and humanitarian ties. He noted that the facility would serve as a vital hub for scientific exchange and the professional training of experts in the field. This initiative is expected to enhance bilateral understanding by providing a dedicated space for researchers and writers to collaborate on international projects.

Beyond its academic mission, the center aims to promote the rich cultural heritage of the region to a global audience. This project aligns with the broader objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the importance of "people-to-people" connections through education and literature. By bridging the linguistic and cultural gaps, the China-Central Asia Publishing Center is set to become a cornerstone of intellectual cooperation in the heart of Eurasia.
