Vanessa Murtazina, a resident of Ashgabat, has successfully summitted Mount Elbrus via its southern route. According to the mountaineer, reaching this extreme peak demanded rigorous advanced training, physical endurance, and absolute focus. The successful expedition marks a notable achievement for Turkmenistan's growing community of high-altitude climbing enthusiasts.
In an interview with the "Turkmenportal" news outlet, Vanessa noted that open-source records contain very little information regarding Turkmen women who have successfully summitted Mount Elbrus. This lack of available documentation motivated her to promptly share her personal technical experience and the field photographs captured at the snow-covered peak to inspire other female climbers.
The historic ascent was officially completed on June 6, 2026. According to the summit certificate issued by the expedition guides, Vanessa Murtazina successfully reached the highest point of Elbrus, which stands at an elevation of 5,642 meters above sea level. The entire high-altitude route required strict adherence to proper acclimatization protocols to safely navigate the thin atmospheric conditions.
