The fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Ashgabat, marking a significant step in the implementation of high-level state agreements. The session highlighted the commitment of both nations to fostering a long-term, multi-dimensional partnership based on mutual respect and economic growth. Participants conducted a comprehensive review of existing bilateral ties and outlined strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the joint commission's work.

Expanding trade and economic relations was a central theme of the deliberations. The commission members focused on optimizing export-import operations and increasing the turnover of key commodities, particularly in the petrochemical, textile, and agricultural sectors. Both delegations emphasized the need to facilitate easier market access for private enterprises and to develop new mechanisms for boosting bilateral trade volumes, reflecting the dynamic potential of both economies.

The development of transport and logistics infrastructure emerged as a strategic priority during the discussions. The parties reviewed ongoing efforts to establish efficient freight routes connecting Central Asia and Europe, specifically via the "Caspian Sea – Black Sea" corridor. In this regard, the role of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport as a vital regional logistics hub was underscored. Furthermore, the meeting addressed opportunities within the energy sector and the continued expansion of the "Lapis Lazuli" international transport corridor.

Humanitarian and cultural exchanges were also identified as essential components of the bilateral agenda. Plans for organizing mutual Culture Days, joint scientific conferences, and sporting events were discussed to strengthen the historical bonds between the people of Turkmenistan and Georgia. The session concluded with the signing of an official Protocol, which formalizes the reached agreements and sets a concrete roadmap for future collaborative projects between Ashgabat and Tbilisi.
