Armenia's aviation sector reached a significant milestone in 2025, with national airports facilitating travel for 5.7 million passengers. This represents a 7.5% increase compared to the statistics recorded in 2024. The figures were presented by Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, during a session of the National Assembly, highlighting the steady recovery and growth of the country’s air travel industry.

Out of the total passenger volume, Armenian national airlines accounted for 1.3 million passengers. The growth in the market share of local carriers is seen as a positive indicator of the sector's strengthening domestic capabilities. The government continues to emphasize the importance of bolstering local aviation companies to enhance the nation's connectivity and economic resilience.

The operational landscape in 2025 involved 48 airlines providing scheduled services across 67 different destinations. Notably, 10 new routes were inaugurated during the year, including a direct connection between Gyumri and Larnaca. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to diversify flight options and make Armenia more accessible to international travelers and business investors alike.

Looking ahead, the Armenian government aims to further expand its aviation network and improve infrastructure standards. The ministry expressed a commitment to attracting more international carriers and increasing the frequency of flights to key global hubs. Consistent growth in passenger traffic remains a vital component of Armenia’s long-term plan to modernize its transportation infrastructure and boost the national economy.
