Arkadag City to Host Grand Celebrations for the National Day of the Turkmen Horse
05 Apr. 13:11During a working visit to the city of Arkadag, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reviewed the preparations for the upcoming National Day of the Turkmen Horse. In a meeting with city officials and construction committee leaders, the National Leader emphasized that the festivities honoring the Akhal-Teke horses—often called the "heavenly" steeds—must be organized with the utmost prestige in the city that bears their legacy.
The Mayor of Arkadag City, G. Mammedova, reported on the extensive cleaning, landscaping, and beautification efforts taking place throughout the city. The National Leader pointed out that the celebrations should actively involve not only professional equestrians but also the general public, particularly the youth, to foster national pride and cultural continuity. The events are expected to showcase the unique beauty and speed of the Akhal-Teke breed through various exhibitions and traditional displays.
The working session also addressed the progress of the second phase of Arkadag's urban development. D. Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for Construction, provided details on the quality of building materials and adherence to ecological standards. The National Leader stressed that ensuring high-quality construction and meeting project deadlines are critical tasks, highlighting that environmental sustainability remains a top priority for the "smart city" infrastructure.
The National Day of the Turkmen Horse in Arkadag will serve as a symbol of the nation's deep-rooted connection to its equestrian heritage. Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
