Turkmenistan has achieved a notable diplomatic success as the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted two resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan. One resolution highlights the strategic importance of reliable and sustainable energy connectivity for achieving sustainable development, while the second proclaims the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport for 2026–2035.
This development was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, during an expanded meeting of the Government and the State Security Council of Turkmenistan. In his address, he emphasized that the adoption of these resolutions reflects the growing international recognition of Turkmenistan’s constructive foreign policy.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his appreciation, on behalf of the people of Turkmenistan, to all UN member states that unanimously supported the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan. The Head of State reaffirmed that Turkmenistan will continue to deepen effective cooperation with the United Nations.
The meeting also underlined that 2025 has been marked by a number of landmark events for Turkmenistan, including the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality. Throughout the year, numerous sessions of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Security Council, and national coordination meetings were held, addressing priority issues of Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policy.
According to official reports, Turkmenistan has maintained strong economic growth across all sectors.
