On October 1, the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan welcomed the opening of the «Gorkut ata» International Film Festival, which runs from October 1 to 5. As in previous years, the festival unites representatives of Turkic countries and aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of cinematography, promote the development of cinema, and introduce the global audience to the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples.
This year, the creative delegation of Turkmenistan, including the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the «Türkmenfilm» Association named after Oguzhan, is actively participating. Talented Turkmen scriptwriters, directors, actors, and operators are presenting their works to international film lovers.
Turkmen representatives are also part of the festival jury: Sahysalyh Bayramov, Deputy Head of «Türkmenfilm» for creative affairs, is serving as a jury member for feature films, while the renowned cinematographer Dowletgeldi Khudaiberdiev is judging documentary films.
Among the films representing Turkmenistan in competition are Batyr Batyrov’s feature film “The Path to Perfection 2: Perseverance”, Hekim Alawov’s “The Book”, Maksat Gylyjov’s documentary “My Name Resounds from Land to Land” dedicated to Magtymguly Pyragy, and Sahragul Janmammedova’s chronicle-documentary “…Not a Craft, but an Art”, highlighting the national tradition of alaja.
In addition to the competition program, the festival also features screenings of Vepa Ishanguliyev’s feature film “The Beauty of Gurgench – Torebeg” and Zulfiya Kadyrova’s “A Human is a Companion”.

British companies that invested in Bitcoin in 2025 lost £80 million ($106 million) due to its decline, ria.ru reports, citing an article in the Telegraph.
Companies listed on the London Stock Exchange spent £360 million on cryptocurrency purchases in 2025. According to the newspaper, they bought Bitcoin at a high price. This means 13 companies purchased 4,300 Bitcoins for $113,100, while the digital currency is currently worth around $88,000. In total, the losses amounted to £79.1 million.
According to the publication, Bitcoin's rise last year was driven by Donald Trump's victory in the US election and hopes that his administration would be favorable to cryptocurrencies.
However, by 2025, its price had fallen by almost 12 percent. The number of Britons investing in Bitcoin also fell from 12 percent to 8 percent.
