Winners Announced at the IV International Economics Olympiad in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management successfully concluded the IV Open International Internet Olympiad on World Economics among university students. This high-level digital competition serves as an elite annual forum for identifying outstanding young economists and financial analysts worldwide. By evaluating core technical competencies, the Olympiad has institutionalized itself as a powerful bridge, promoting academic synergy, collaborative scientific exchange, and strong institutional ties between global universities.

This year's competition featured an impressive, highly diverse international lineup. A total of 140 top-tier students representing 39 leading universities from 12 countries entered the digital arena. The roster of competing nations included Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Germany, validating the event's rigorous academic standards and its rising prestige within the global educational community.

According to the final evaluation metrics, 66 participants earned top honors, consisting of 11 first-place, 22 second-place, and 33 third-place diplomas. Turkmen university students displayed exemplary mastery of macroeconomic principles, claiming 21 podium finishes in total. Leading the national charts, Nursoltan Mämmedowa from the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management and Elnara Derbaşowa from the State Financial Institute of Turkmenistan both secured brilliant first-place victories.

International students likewise recorded strong performances, taking home 45 prestigious awards. Nine coveted first-place diplomas were secured by talented minds from top universities in Russia, Pakistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Germany. The sustained success of this annual Olympiad highlights Turkmenistan's growing capacity to host sophisticated, cloud-based educational tournaments, actively shaping the global knowledge economy and preparing the next generation of industrial and fiscal leaders.

















Switzerland Opens Applications for Government Excellence Scholarships for Young Turkmen Researchers

The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.

Key applicant requirements:

A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;

Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;

A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;

An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;

For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.

The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
