Weekly Weather Forecast: Rainfall and Temperatures up to +35°C Expected in Turkmenistan
27 Apr. 08:57The Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan has released the weather forecast for the current week. According to the report, the country will experience variable cloudiness and periodic rainfall across all regions. While showers are expected throughout the week, temperatures in the southern and eastern parts of the country are projected to climb as high as +35°C. Wind speeds are also expected to increase, reaching up to 17 meters per second in some areas.
Regional Weather Highlights:
• Ashgabat: Rainy weather is expected in the middle and toward the end of the week. Daytime highs will range between +23°C and +31°C, with wind gusts up to 16 m/s.
• Ahal Region: Cloudiness and rain are forecast, with maximum daytime temperatures reaching +34°C.
• Balkan Region: Rain is expected across the province. Inland temperatures will reach +31°C, while coastal areas will remain cooler at around +25°C.
• Mary and Lebap Regions: Light showers are anticipated in the second half of the week. These regions will experience the week's highest temperatures, peaking at +35°C.
• Dashoguz Region: Rainfall is expected mid-week, with daytime temperatures rising up to +33°C.
Residents are advised to stay informed about local weather updates, especially regarding shifting wind patterns and scheduled rainfall.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
