The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree approving an international agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan in the prevention and elimination of emergency situations. This document is a Protocol introducing amendments to the existing intergovernmental agreement, which was officially signed in Tashkent on November 17, 2025, during the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Under the new legislation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan has been designated as the primary executive body responsible for the practical implementation of the protocol. The agreement establishes legal frameworks for rapid information exchange and coordinated joint responses to natural or man-made disasters, which is crucial for maintaining regional safety and environmental stability.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has been instructed to formally notify the Turkmen side that all domestic procedures required for the document's entry into force have been completed. This move reflects the mutual commitment of Tashkent and Ashgabat to deepening their strategic partnership and building a resilient collective defense system for their populations and territories.

The ratification of this Protocol is expected to facilitate joint training exercises, professional development for civil defense personnel, and the sharing of advanced technological expertise. The close integration of the emergency services of these two neighboring states will significantly improve reaction times during crises and minimize potential damage to infrastructure in border regions.
