Turkmenistan’s Institute of World Languages to Host Student Olympiads in Ashgabat

The State Institute of World Languages named after Döwletmämmet Azady in Ashgabat invites 11th- and 12th-grade students from across Turkmenistan to participate in its annual language olympiads. From March to May, the institute will organize competitions in five subjects: Turkmen, English, French, Russian, and German.

The events will begin with the Turkmen language olympiad on March 14 and conclude with the German language competition on May 16. The contests will be held in two stages: the first consists of written exercises, and the second involves individual exams at the institute.

The jury and organizing team include leading faculty from the Institute of World Languages in Turkmenistan, along with professors from international partner universities. Winners will receive diplomas and valuable prizes, while their mentors will be honored with certificates of appreciation.

This initiative aims to increase young people’s interest in foreign languages and strengthen connections between secondary and higher education institutions in Turkmenistan. Registration details are available on the institute’s official website.

















Switzerland Opens Applications for Government Excellence Scholarships for Young Turkmen Researchers

The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.

Key applicant requirements:

A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;

Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;

A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;

An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;

For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.

The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
