Turkmenistan to Host National Cinema Week Organized by “Turkmenfilm” in February
24 Jan. 09:36In February, Turkmenistan will host a series of large-scale cultural events organized by the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The program will be held at cultural venues in the capital of Turkmenistan and across all regions of the country, featuring conferences, creative events, and a National Cinema Week showcasing films produced during the years of Turkmenistan’s independence.
During a Government meeting of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Seyidova reported on the schedule and organizational framework of the main February events. It was noted that Turkmenistan plans to hold conferences, creative meetings, briefings, exhibitions, educational outreach activities, as well as music and song programs throughout the month.
The events will be dedicated to the national motto of 2026, “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Determined Winged Horses,” and to the Day of the Diplomatic Worker of Turkmenistan. Among the highlights of February will be a concert of melodies from Turkmen films at the Mukams Palace of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, along with several other cultural initiatives.
Relevant proposals were submitted for consideration by the President of Turkmenistan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that numerous celebratory events are planned nationwide during the year themed “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Determined Winged Horses,” and instructed officials to ensure the high-quality organization of all February activities in Turkmenistan.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
