Turkmenistan State Medical University to Open Non-Traditional Medicine Department
04 Apr. 18:35A specialized department for non-traditional medicine is set to be established at the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan. This initiative aims to diversify the academic curriculum and integrate time-tested natural healing methods into the training of modern healthcare professionals. The new facility will provide students with the opportunity to study the therapeutic properties of medicinal plants and explore alternative treatment techniques alongside conventional medicine.
The proposal was highlighted during a working visit by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Arkadag city. During a meeting with the leadership of the Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, the Chairman underscored the importance of utilizing natural resources and traditional knowledge to enhance the nation's health infrastructure. He noted that incorporating these methods into university education is essential for the holistic development of the medical field.
A key component of this project involves fostering international partnerships and exchanging professional expertise with foreign medical institutions. The department is expected to serve as a hub for research on natural treatment methods, contributing to the modernization of the country's sanatoriums and health resorts. By blending historical medical heritage with modern scientific research, Turkmenistan aims to establish a unique and comprehensive healthcare model.
In addition to academic developments, the meeting covered the ongoing humanitarian activities of the Charitable Fund, including international medical assistance programs for children. The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty provided specific instructions to ensure that the new department meets international standards and effectively supports the training of highly qualified specialists. This initiative represents a strategic step toward advancing the national healthcare system through innovation and cultural continuity.
