Turkmenistan: Olympic Stadium Approved as Arkadag’s Home Venue for Al-Nassr Clash
22 Jan. 05:37The Asian Football Confederation has officially confirmed the Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat as the home ground for Turkmenistan’s Arkadag FC in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Two Round of 16 against Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Located in the capital of Turkmenistan, the Olympic Stadium has a seating capacity of around 45,000 spectators, making it the largest sports facility in Central Asia. The venue was constructed ahead of the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The upcoming match will mark a historic milestone, as it will be the first official football game ever hosted at the stadium.
Until now, Arkadag FC had played its home matches in the continental competition at the Arkadag Stadium in the city of Arkadag, which accommodates approximately 10,000 fans.
In a separate decision, the AFC also announced changes affecting Iranian clubs. Matches involving Sepahan and Esteghlal will be relocated to neutral venues, with exact locations to be disclosed at a later date.
