During an official visit to Austria, high-ranking representatives from Turkmenistan met with the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to discuss advanced cooperation strategies. The dialogue centered on fostering sustainable industrial growth through the integration of innovative technologies and smart city solutions. Both parties emphasized the importance of aligning national industrial strategies with global environmental standards to ensure long-term economic resilience.

A primary outcome of the meeting was the consideration of a joint Roadmap for the 2026–2030 period, specifically targeting the "green" industrial transition and climate action. This strategic plan is intended to facilitate the adoption of modern industrial practices and encourage the use of renewable energy sources across various manufacturing sectors. Discussions also covered the development of a specialized medical cluster in the city of Arkadag and the enhancement of the nation’s textile and carpet industries through technical cooperation.

UNIDO leadership lauded Turkmenistan’s proactive role in international energy diplomacy and its ongoing support for UN-led energy security initiatives. The conversation further explored regional environmental proposals, including the establishment of a regional UN center for climate change technologies in Central Asia. Turkmenistan also highlighted its commitment to the sustainable management of transboundary water resources and the promotion of ecological initiatives within the Caspian Sea basin.

The partnership aims to leverage UNIDO’s technical expertise to modernize Turkmenistan’s industrial base while ensuring social and environmental responsibility.
