Turkmen athlete Didarbek Jumabayev secured two prestigious awards at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships currently held in Ismailia, Egypt. Competing in the 79 kg weight category, Jumabayev claimed a silver medal in the clean and jerk discipline and a bronze medal in the overall total. His performance highlights the continued strength and potential of Turkmenistan's young weightlifting talents on the global stage.

During the competition, Jumabayev successfully lifted 148 kg in the snatch and 187 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a combined total of 335 kg. The gold medal in this category was won by Abdulrahman Hamuda of Egypt with a total of 341 kg, while Narek Mkrtchyan from Armenia took silver with 336 kg. Jumabayev’s ability to secure a podium spot amidst such intense international competition marks a significant milestone in his athletic career.

The championship, taking place from May 2 to May 8, features a delegation of nine athletes from Turkmenistan, consisting of five female and four male competitors. This event serves as a crucial platform for young athletes to test their skills against elite international opponents. The participation of the Turkmen national team is part of a broader state initiative to promote sports and healthy lifestyles among the youth.

In earlier sessions, other Turkmen representatives also showed competitive results. Ogulshat Amanova, competing in the 53 kg class, finished fourth overall with a total of 187 kg, missing out on a bronze medal by just a single kilogram. Additionally, Shabnam Kerimbayeva ranked eighth in the same category out of fifteen participants. While some athletes faced technical challenges, the overall presence of the team in Ismailia underscores Turkmenistan's rising status in the international weightlifting community.
