Turkmen Teacher in Ivanovo Achieves Near-Perfect Exam Scores with Students
In Ivanovo’s School No. 14, located in the Avdotyino district, mathematics and computer science teacher Umid Erkinov has become a rising star in the local education system. Originally from Turkmenistan, his students are now consistently scoring close to 100 on Russia’s Unified State Exam (EGE).
Umid moved to Russia as a young man to study at a local university, where he earned a degree in mathematics and computer science. After completing his bachelor's and then a master's program, he decided to stay and begin his teaching career.
He recalls how students initially struggled to pronounce his name, but quickly adapted within a few lessons. Though he didn’t teach in Turkmenistan, the similarities between the Russian and Turkmen education systems helped him integrate seamlessly.
Fellow teachers describe him as gifted and passionate. Students enjoy his classes, and parents appreciate his clear, engaging teaching style. Umid maintains open communication with families, offering advice and support to help each student succeed individually.
In his first year, he was entrusted with an 11th-grade class, and their final exam results were impressive — many scored 95 or 96 out of 100. Umid says he was proud of their performance and continues to see dedication in his current students.
Back home, his relatives and fellow countrymen follow his success with pride. He has become a respected educator in Russia and hopes to continue working in the Avdotyino school, possibly even building a future in Ivanovo beyond the classroom.
