Turkmen-Russian Concert “Music of Peace, Friendship and Brotherhood” Held in Moscow
On August 15, the Rachmaninoff Hall of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory hosted a festive Turkmen-Russian concert titled “Music of Peace, Friendship and Brotherhood.” The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, and the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The concert took place as part of the 19th International Music Festival “Gathering Friends” and was organized by the Scientific and Creative Center “Musical Cultures of the World” with support from the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Russia, and the “Sounds of Dutar” Foundation.
The event gathered representatives from the Russian Foreign Ministry, foreign diplomats, scholars, cultural figures, university staff, and many residents and guests of Moscow.
Turkmen performers — already well known to international audiences — arrived in the Russian capital to take part. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Turkmen Ambassador to Russia Esen Aydogdyev, Head of the UN Information Center in Moscow V. Kuznetsov, acting rector of the Conservatory A. Sokolov, and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Z. Tsereteli.
The program featured works by Nury Halmamedov, Chary Nuryyev, V. Bogdanov-Berezovsky, A. Mosolov, M. Vainberg, K. Volkov, M. Guseynov, and traditional Russian and Turkmen folk music.
Before the concert, a lecture was held by noted musicologists and educators E. Osipova and E. Volkov. An exhibition of books and visual artworks was also on display in the concert hall foyer.
