FIFA-grade referee Timur Gulmuradov from Turkmenistan has been selected to officiate beach football matches at the VI Asian Beach Games. The event is scheduled to take place from April 22 to 30 in Sanya, a coastal city on China’s Hainan Island. This international appointment underscores the high regard for Turkmen sports officials within the global and regional football confederations.

The games feature a diverse program of 14 sports, including beach volleyball, jiu-jitsu, sailing, sport climbing, and aquathlon. Athletes from 45 different nations will compete in these high-profile competitions. The inclusion of a Turkmen referee in the beach football segment is a testament to the country's ongoing commitment to professional excellence in sports officiating on an international scale.

Sanya was awarded the hosting rights for the VI Asian Beach Games in March 2019. Originally intended for 2021, the tournament faced significant delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After a period of careful rescheduling and rigorous preparation, the city is now ready to host thousands of participants in a safe and highly organized environment.

Since their inception in Bali in 2008, the Asian Beach Games have become a biennial highlight of the continental sports calendar. Sanya is the second Chinese city to host the event, following Haiyang in 2012. Having previously been held in countries like Oman, Thailand, and Vietnam, the games continue to grow in prestige, promoting coastal sports and regional cooperation across Asia.
