Turkmen Jeweler Secures Prize at International Competition in Uzbekistan

The international competition "Golden Thread and Jewelry Art" recently concluded in Bukhara, bringing together elite artisans from various countries. Govher Nuryýewa, a prominent member of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan, successfully demonstrated her exceptional craftsmanship at this prestigious event. Following the evaluation by the expert panel, the Turkmen artisan secured a commendable third-place finish.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the event organizers presented the laureate with an official Cup and a cash prize of 1,000 USD during a formal ceremony. For this exhibition, Nuryýewa prepared an extensive collection comprising nearly 60 handcrafted items. The showcased pieces featured traditional necklaces, pendants, earrings, bracelets, and rings made in accordance with national traditions.

The artisan's creative approach relies heavily on historical manufacturing methods, which she enhances with personal artistic elements. A signature motif in her designs is the representation of blooming desert tulips, symbolizing the nature of Turkmenistan. Nuryýewa emphasizes that Turkmen jewelry design shares a profound aesthetic connection with traditional carpet weaving and embroidery, which is evident in the shared geometric patterns.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the field, the artisan frequently represents her country's cultural heritage at global venues. This marks her second participation in the biennial Uzbek festival, where she previously received a UNESCO competition certificate. Furthermore, her international portfolio includes special recognition at a major crafts festival held in India.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
