From September 9 to 12, a delegation from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University visited Astana for a working trip, where they took part in an international seminar focused on sustainable development and the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into education and professional practice.
The event was hosted by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan, as part of the Erasmus+ project ESGCA, aimed at modernizing higher education in Central Asia through the development of new ESG-oriented master's programs and courses.
Key topics included the green transition, environmental accountability, and the use of modern technologies for environmental protection. More than 130 participants attended, including representatives from government institutions, academia, and the business sector.
The Turkmen delegates actively contributed to discussions, emphasizing the importance of incorporating ESG principles into the curricula of Turkmen universities. The visit also helped to strengthen collaboration with European partners and opened new avenues for cooperation in sustainable development.

24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
