A Turkmen delegation led by Ata Serdarov, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, conducted an official visit to Kampala from May 10 to 15. The primary purpose of the mission was to attend the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the large-scale celebratory event took place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in the Ugandan capital, drawing numerous international dignitaries and diplomatic missions.

Following the conclusion of the official state ceremony, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received the Turkmen delegation at the State House in the city of Entebbe. During the audience, the Ugandan leader was presented with an official letter of appreciation from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The message expressed deep gratitude for the invitation to the inauguration and extended the warmest wishes of peace, stability, and prosperity to the friendly people of Uganda on behalf of the Turkmen nation.

In response, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed his sincere appreciation to the leadership of Turkmenistan for sending a high-level delegation to the event. The Ugandan President noted that his administration highly values relations with Central Asian nations and views Turkmenistan as an important partner on the international stage. He emphasized that this diplomatic exchange serves as a solid starting point for building mutually beneficial ties between the two nations in the near future.

During the working visit to Kampala, Ata Serdarov also held strategic bilateral meetings with Richard Todwong, the Secretary-General of Uganda’s ruling party, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda. The discussions focused on exploring various avenues of bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on fostering inter-party relations and enhancing dialogue within major international frameworks. Both sides expressed readiness to maintain contact to identify joint projects in economic and cultural fields.
