This autumn marked an important milestone for Turkmenistan — the launch of the nation’s first locally constructed vessel. The dry cargo ship, named Gadamly, has a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons and is designed for container transportation.
According to the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the ceremony held on November 4 brought together students and lecturers of the “Shipbuilding” specialization from the “Water Transport Operations” department at the Turkmen Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications. Notably, graduates of this institute also contributed directly to the construction process.
The vessel was built at the “Balkan” Shipbuilding and Repair Plant in collaboration with the South Korean company Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd. and Turkmen specialists.
