Strategic Technology Dialogue: Turkmenistan Participates in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026
01 May. 04:08A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Communication of Turkmenistan participated in the "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026" international innovation forum, held from April 27 to 29 in Tokyo. The event gathered a diverse group of global corporations, startups, and tech experts to showcase the latest advancements in digital transformation and foster cross-border academic and industrial cooperation. This participation highlights Turkmenistan's growing role in the international digital landscape.
The forum's technical sessions were dedicated to cutting-edge sectors, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the next generation of 5G and 6G connectivity, and the development of Smart City infrastructures. Additionally, extensive focus was placed on sustainable development through green energy and the expansion of the digital economy. Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at scaling innovative solutions to address modern urban and industrial challenges.
During the forum, the Turkmen representatives conducted several bilateral meetings with leading international technology firms specializing in digital development. The primary objective of these talks was to explore partnership opportunities in telecommunications and the modernization of digital infrastructure. Specifically, the parties discussed the integration of AI-driven services and smart management systems within urban environments to enhance efficiency and public services.
A significant portion of the negotiations was dedicated to the regional startup ecosystem and its integration with global technology hubs. The delegation explored frameworks for supporting young entrepreneurs through collaboration with international startup platforms. These efforts are expected to pave the way for joint innovative projects and the exchange of expertise, further solidifying Turkmenistan's commitment to building a knowledge-based economy driven by technological progress.

Switzerland Opens Applications for Government Excellence Scholarships for Young Turkmen Researchers
24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
